Attendance at Miller Avenue School has improved remarkably in recent months, as staff have worked hard to make the school a second home, where our tamariki are able to thrive in and out of the classroom. Daily attendance is now above 90% and the number of students with poor or irregular attendance is significantly reduced. We are now ahead of the targets we set for ourselves in our attendance plan for 2026. We thank all parents and guardians for encouraging their tamariki to attend every day, unless there is genuine sickness or extenuating circumstances.
Research shows that children who attend school regularly achieve significantly higher results at school than those who have irregular attendance. Good attendance is defined by the Ministry of Education as less than 5 days of absence per term. We realise the importance of good attendance and have developed a long-term attendance plan to boost our student results and well-being.
